Game Rules

In an effort to facilitate the appropriate forum decorum and role playing etiquette, the following rules are required to be honored during game play.  While it is understood that this is a game, we are set in a Para-military setting and thus there will be ranks and responsibilities associated with each department and department head.  It is our goal to establish realistic scenario's based on current events placed into the Star Trek realm.  While "Omega" is based in the Starfleet domain, the team is governed under Section 31, Article "C" of the Articles of Federation, defining special and black operations.  The time frame is the year 2377 CE.

There will be one Captain and one full Commander assigned as the teams command officers. Other characters may bring their players in as Lieutenant Commander; Lieutenant; Lieutenant Junior Grade; Ensign or any non-commissioned rank.  Typically non-military positions will be discouraged but if permitted, will be held accountable to the military rank command structure.

You may not post words or actions for any other player-character, nor may you write as though a character has answered. Once you have reached a point in your post that requires another player’s input, stop and wait or work with the other character through a joint post.  The GM or AGM may strike any post from the record if it violates the rules or corrupts the story line in such a way that the story can not be recovered to allow for its intended conclusion.

The use of NPC’s are restricted and may only be introduced as a story plot device by the GM/AGM. We encourage characters to interact and work together.

All players are expected to acknowledge another player’s posts directed at them in a timely manner, usually within a day or two of the post being sent out.  Should a player experience gaming outages such as vacations/holidays; work related business or any other restricting conditions, the GM/AGM must be informed in advance so that the character may be played in an NPC fashion.

You may not post as though you are in two places at once, or conduct two different conversations at the same time.

Nobody “owns” an NPC. All NPC’s are available for use by any player; however, players MUST use NPC’s in accordance with the established character and background of that NPC and within the rules as stated herein.

Our logs are public and thus the use of profanity or sexual innuendo is not permitted. It is considered appropriate to use “symbols” in place of colorful language.

Everyone is expected to work together to further the plot and the mission. There should be no god-like quick fixes. No one character knows everything; all characters are to maintain a sense of believability. Your character is limited to the plot information within the story and nothing further.

Players are encouraged to communicate with one another, even out-of-game, so that everyone is on the same page with respect to intentions, plans, and clarification of posts. If you’re not sure what someone wants to do, send that player a message.

We role play in the "third person" format.  See the RPG Guide for further instruction.
